Let’s face it, high heels are sexy! And if you have a nice looking, sexy feet why not show it off? The problem is high heels can be a little rough on the feet after several hours of standing or walking.
Here are a few tips to get the most comfort out of those heels and avoid …
1. Walk slower, take smaller steps and walk heel toe
2. Buy your heels in a slightly larger size (perhaps a half an inch or so) and trying inserting heel cups into the backs. You might even want to get a get a gel pad insole. This will make for a much more comfortable fit.
3. If you have a closed toe shoe or feel rubbing on other parts of your shoe, use a bit of moleskin on the affected area.
4. Vary your heel heights from day to day, one-day wearing low heels, and the next day slightly higher heels.
5. Try wearing shoes with a strap or covering over the instep rather than wearing slip-on heels. This will help keep your foot sliding forward which can cause your spine to bend backwards and this can lead to eventual back problems.
6. Give you legs and ankles periodic exercising. Do exercises to keep your ankles strong. The stronger your ankles the farther you will be able to go without pain. If you feel pain in your ankles you should take off you shoes and rest before going any further. When going down the stairs only the sole of your shoe needs to be placed on each step.
7. When walking up the stairs always grab the hand rail and allow your heel and toe to reach the next stair at the same time
8. Walk with your toes pointing straight ahead keeping your legs straight and close together. Also to help maintain balance, swing your arms as you walk
9. When taking a step place your heel down first then bring the rest of your foot down smoothly.
10. Try practicing at the grocery store. A few walks up and down those aisles will shape your legs and ankles up in no time.
